The voices for the Read Aloud feature have regressed to robotic voices, after having more natural ones.

Why is this, and is there away to bring back the natural voices? This is a feature I use a lot, and it's become a pain point.

Thanks for replying Zain, but this solution did not work.

Also, the issue isn't that the voices are too fast, which makes them sound robotic, it's that the other natural sounding voices are just completley gone from the program.

There used to be an assortment of voices even juts 6 months ago. If the language was switched to US English, the default voice was a warm sounding woman. If the language was set to UK English, it was a natural sounding British woman's voice. now the deafaults, regardless of the language setting, are Microsoft David, Zira, Linda, Mark, and Richard, and they all have the same robotic speach pattern.

Perhaps it's because of my age, but because you have tried to help everybody has thanked you. But the actual person who wrote to you hasn't had their problems sorted neither the others including me.

What sort of workaround solution is 'take it back to before the update and don't do any more updates and then it might work'?

Is it beyond the realms of possibility for you to actually communicate with another department which looks into this stuff, and then gives us a temporary workaround like an update with a natural sounding voice like we had before?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Is the fix being worked on since there have been several users that have reported this issue? I am currently working on restoring the previous MS Word as instructed and am hoping this will resolve the issue, but I rather be on the latest version.

My system just updated, end of April, and now I have the same issue. As a blind user, I depend on the various voices to help me do my work. The system has gone back the horrible tinny voices and Read Aloud has lost all the voice, bakc to male and female only. Terrible voices. In the age of AI can we not get better than this? the update had some security patches and I'm not so keen to just roll the update back. the patches are there for a reason. The voices they have available aren't the best, but they far surpass what the older versions offered. Imagine having to listen to them for hours at a time in various programs becuase you don't have a choice. Please tell me they are getting it together to fix this fast.

    Thank you

We have been told that they are trying to fix this.

No one here, though, can tell you about how fast or what priority.

I know it is not yet fixed on my system.
