Force resync OneDrive folder in Windows Explorer

Hi,

I see original thread is closed due to impoliteness.

I want to ask if this solution will work at all times? It could be of help to others:

To resync OneDrive location to you explorer on demand:

  1. Right click OneDrive icon in systray.
  2. Choose settings (cogwheel) and click Pause Sync (for instance 2 hours).
  3. Choose settings again, and resume syncing.

If so, would a moderator be so kind to add this comment to original question?

Thanks in advance.
Jan-Willem Aikens.

    Dear Jan-Willem Aikens

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I misunderstood.

Yes, when you choose to pause synchronization for two hours, synchronization will automatically start after two hours when the device is connected to the network. The same applies to other pause times. Synchronization will start automatically.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. If you need further help, please feel free to reply.

    Hi Tracy,

    Thank you for your reply.

It's not that synchronization is not working, it just takes time for certain changes to sync.
My question is: Will pausing and resuming OneDrive Synchronization trigger to synchronize instantly? I ask this because there is no other way I know of to synchronize on demand.

    Kind regards,
    Jan-Willem

    Dear Jan-Willem Aikens

Thanks for raising your concerns in Microsoft Community.

According to your description, I understand that you want to comment on a thread about OneDrive synchronization issues and inquire about the feasibility of its solution.

First of all, for the problem of OneDrive synchronization, pausing synchronization and then resuming synchronization is indeed a solution, but it is not the best solution for forced synchronization. Synchronization involves many factors, such as the status of the OneDrive application, the network environment of the device, interference from third-party applications, and the status of the OneDrive service.

Pausing synchronization is equivalent to restarting the synchronization function of the OneDrive application, but if the reason for the failure to synchronize is external factors, then this solution is not effective.

Usually we recommend that you try resetting OneDrive after pausing synchronization to repair the synchronization function. If it doesn't work, you need to check the network, OneDrive application and device.

The original thread is locked. Unfortunately, you can't add replies to a locked thread.

If you have questions about synchronization issues, you can post a question and we will do our best to help you.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. We are looking forward to hearing from you and will continue to assist you.

    Best Regards,
