Please don't do anything until the issue is clarified. It could be due ti a font size issue but could be any of several other causes. The 2nd step from Cherry_Z doesn't work anyway & it probably isn't related to Preferences whatsoever.

First, determine the present Version Numbers of both macOS & Office. Include that information in your reply.

Is the issue with one specific document or are all documents affected?

Please provide a screen shot of the entire document window with the Home tab displayed.

    Hi, Karen Weiss1

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Support.

Regarding the issue of text becoming very small in Microsoft Word on your Mac, please try the following steps to resolve it:

    1. Adjust Font Size:
      • Select the text you want to adjust.
      • In the "Home" tab, find the "Font" group, and choose a larger font size.
      • In the bottom right corner of the Word window, there is a zoom slider. You can drag the slider to zoom in or out on the document.
    2. Check Default Font Settings:
      • Open a new document.
      • In the "Home" tab, right-click on any font in the "Font" group, and select "Set as Default".
      • Choose "All documents based on the Normal template", then click "OK".

If the problem persists after doing the above steps, try to reset Word Settings:

    • Close Word. Open Finder, hold the Option key, click the "Go" menu, and select "Library".
    • Locate and delete the "com.microsoft.Word.plist" file in the following folders:
         ~/Library/Preferences/

         ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Library/Preferences/

I hope these methods help! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please let us know!

    Best regards,
