Yes, at this stage it appears they are just removing the 60 minute calling benefit after charging more for the subscription.......

I've just been told that we'll lose the 60 minutes Skype calls feature from Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions starting March 2026, so we've just renewed our subscription at an extra cost of around $50 and now we'll lose this benefit, can anyone else confirm this and if we can go about keeping the 60 mins of free calls?

As I understand:
I can't use Skype.
Teams' call option is not available unless you are a School or Business.
I got a yearly contract that includes 60 minutes of calls.
Microsoft has broken that part of the contract.
Is this not illegal?
Can we trust Microsoft?
About the changes you've noticed regarding Skype call length, Microsoft is putting more focus on newer services like Teams Free. I'm sorry, but as community support, we're not privy to the internal reasoning behind those decisions.
Regarding the Microsoft 365 price changes, Microsoft has made some feature upgrades at the same time they've been adjusting subscription benefits. For instance, Microsoft 365 Personal/Family subscribers now have access to AI tools like Copilot and Designer, and more innovations are on the way.
If you'd rather keep the features you're used to, Microsoft has a "Classic" plan that doesn't include the AI stuff, and the price is the same as it was. This way, there are options for different users, so it's best to pick the one that works best for how you use it.

Thank you Yuhao, if its a transition why are the 60 free minutes being removed and not transitioned?
I'm confused as to why we've just been charged more for this years subscription if benefits are going to be removed, surely the price should come down if Microsoft are cost saving and removing such big benefits to the subscriptions?
Hello, David Wyl
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
Yes, it has been confirmed that the 60 minutes of Skype calls feature will be removed from Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions starting in March 2026. This change is part of Microsoft's broader transition from Skype to Microsoft Teams Free.
