Hello! I was hoping you can help.

I am trying to print an envelope in Word, and have gone into Mailings and envelopes. When I printed to document, this is how it looks:

Which is also how I want it to come out.

However, when I send it to my printer, and it prints on the envelope, this is how it comes out:

Which is also the same as how it appears when I go into the mailings envelope screen

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The only setting you need to change is the size of the frame. This is best done in the Word application itself rather than in the Envelopes and Labels dialog. You can use Add to Document in the Envelope dialog, but then you'll have to divorce the envelope from the document, which is a nuisance. Instead, just create a document the size of the envelope (depending on your printer, you may be able to find the envelope size on the Paper tab of Page Setup.

You can then either apply the Envelope Address style to the default blank paragraph and fiddle with changing the size of the frame or, more simply, just use the usual paragraph settings (Center, Spacing Before) to place the text on the envelope.

The Envelope function in Word places the delivery address in a frame that has a fixed width. Because your font is large and the frame is much narrower, your first line is split into two and the rest of the text doesn't fit at all.

To fix this, you need to change the defined width and height of the frame in the paragraph properties of the Envelope Address style. This is explained at length in the article at https://www.gmayor.com/changing_envelope_layout.htm .

It may take some experimentation to determine the best values for this envelope.

    Hi Suzanne,

This seems to have worked, in regards to I had to create a whole new document with the page layout of my letter dimensions and just had to have vertical writing and print from there. I had to tilt my head 45 degrees whilst typing but this did work!

I still need to work with spacing and paragraphs for the perfect fit but thanks for sending me on this path!

    Dear Adikat,

If it is convenient, you can also check the printing options mentioned by Doug and Lesley in the last reply in Problem with Printing Address Correctly on Envelope - Microsoft Community to see whether it helps.

@Jay, thanks for sharing the suggestions here.

Your efforts and time are greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely
