I do not want copilot on my computer.

Thanks for uninvited inclusion of copilot on my subscription. I find this highly intrusive to include AI without my permission and to not provide a straightforward way to 'unsubscribe' is equally frustrating. Please provide the most straightforward advice on how to remove this AI from my subscription. Thanks Carmel

I sympathize with Carmel and Phil - and many other vexed users out there.

Thank you Lucia.Wu for that detailed information. Unfortunately, when I tried there was no Classic option at all. In the end I had to start a chat with Support, who then redirected me to start a chat with Sales - and after much time was told that the best option was to cancel my subscription renewal and then wait for the email prior to expiry (Feb 2025) to then be able to choose a Classic option, which hopefully by then will be available.

Will MS listen to venting of annoyance? It took several days of annoyance to get to the bottom of what was happening in Word and the annoying distraction of Copilot's constant intrusive appearances. Then it took days to find instructions on how to roll Office 365 back to the pre-Copilot version of Feb 2024, and disabling updates to prevent its return. Then came the dawning realisation of the price hike that would come with my subscription renewal that would include the idiot Copilot I had just eliminated!

Adding Copilot to my Office without my knowledge or active consent, where it was unwanted, distracting and intrusive, and time-wasting to fix, is just plain stupid! And increasing the cost of subscriptions for what ultimately proves to be an optional extra is unethical! It is in effect forcing a price hike on clients for a service they do not want, then leaving them to search for the hidden remedy. It is a highly deceptive practice. It could have been avoided by simply giving clients an option to upgrade their service and cost. Due to this, I have submitted a complaint to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission).

I am in Australia and I just tried this and do not have an option to switch to MS Classic.

I too do not want co-pilot or designer, and I don't want to pay the extra charge for these services. The price hike is unsubstantiated IMO.

    Regards

    Phil

Thanks Barry. I fully support your complaint to ACCC. And while I have changed my subscription as per Microsoft advice, CoPilot is still running. Very questionable approach by Microsoft.

I was finally able to go to classic. I am in Australia and the methods people described did not work for me. I found out how by accident.

What I did was unsubscribe with the intention of paying yearly as that was quite a bit cheaper. What happened was I got an email saying I was about to be charged $179 (about a month after I cancelled). I went in to check things as hello - there was an option to switch to classic - I promise it was not there before (that's what peoples solutions suggested). So the option only appeared after my renewal email. Anyway I changed to Classic yearly ($139) and now quite happy.

A note to MS, if you decide to pull classic, I won't be staying. I would rather pay for Google drive and go Open Office or Google docs or anything else and some other email app.

I DONT WANT CO-PILOT, AND I CERTAINLY DONT WANT IT FORCED ON ME.

Really disappointed by Microsoft for doing such a trickery. This was really low. Managed to switch back to classic. If something like this ever happen without my consent I'll cancel my subscription.
