Top level link was removed and as a site owner I can see it gone, but in incognito as a read only user it's still there. Link in drop down menu changed but same issue. Cleared cache, checked with another read only user, no difference. Another reason why my users hate having to use Sharepoint.

    Hi,

Due to this situation, Personally, I’m totally agree and understanding the convenient of taking long time for the changes to show up and an admin saw the changes but users with lower permissions did not until much later.

However, since we are not Microsoft employees, but participants in this community, you need Microsoft to solve this problem in subsequent system updates. I suggest that you may need to submit your problem in the Feedback Center, or you can go to Feedback community to vote this similar feedback: (find out similar feedback, if not provide the feedback forum link Ideas · Community). Microsoft product team is in charge of the site, and they constantly check customer reviews and feedback, The higher votes, the more attention the related team will pay on. And a lot of the features are developed and improved based on customer feedback.

Once again, I'm sorry for the issue you're experiencing. As a user, I can empathize for your feeling.

Meanwhile, hope you kindly mark it as an answer and vote it up by your original account which raised this question. Once marked, it will automatically pin on top. As other users will also search information in this community, your valuable marked answer will definitely also help other users who have similar queries easily to find the correct channel and useful information more quickly and they can raise more feedback about this issue.

Thank you for your cooperation, have a nice day!   Best regards,Darren-Ng | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

In the messy, hybrid modern/classic back end I don't see the option to switch to managed navigation. Besides, that shouldn't be necessary. Given the critical nature of navigation elements, Msft should have engineered it so changes are reflected instantly. In the end, it took 5 hours for the changes to show up which is absurd.

And none of this explains why I as an admin saw the changes but users with lower permissions did not until much later.. And your explanation that "This delay is not well-documented" doesn't exactly fill my users with confidence that Msft knows what they're doing.

    Hi webbrewers,

Thank you for reaching out our Community, I'm glad to be here to support you.

I'm sorry for the issue you're experiencing when SharePoint navigation updates don’t reflect consistently across user roles. Unfortunately, navigation updates can take time to propagate across all user sessions. This delay is not well-documented but is acknowledged by many admins in the community. It should take time to reflect due to SharePoint's indexing and caching behavior.

In the meantime, you can try:

Toggling the navigation setting (e.g, switch from structural to managed navigation and back) to force a refresh. This can help clear cached elements.

If you’re using audience targeting, temporarily disable and re-enable it. This can force a refresh of the navigation nodes for all users

Hope it helps, if you need any other question, please feel free to reach out

Best regards,   Darren - Ng | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
