Error Codes 30015-11, 0-2031 Installing Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024

I have been attempting to install Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 for the past few days and have run into an issue I don't understand. The installation fails at the end with two different error codes:

"Sorry, we ran into a problem. Error Code: 30015-11 (3221356598)"

and

"We're sorry, we had a problem installing your Microsoft 365 and Office program(s).

Is your internet connection working? Do you have enough free space on your main hard drive?

Please try installing again after you've checked the above.

Error Code: 0-2031 (17002)"

I've tried installing on one physical machine and two different virtual machines (Windows Sandbox). All are running Windows 11 24H2. Counter to what the error says above, there are 75 GB free on the VMs and over 100 GB free on the physical machine. Here is what I've done to troubleshoot:

  • Created folder at C:\Installs to run the installer and also tried running it from Downloads and a folder on the Desktop.
  • Used both setup.exe Office Deployment Tool versions 16.0.17830.20162 (what was available in admin center licensing portal) and 16.0.18623.20156 downloaded from Download Office Deployment Tool from Official Microsoft Download Center.
  • Tried two different MAK license keys
  • Running CMD as an Administrator
  • Built the .xml from Office Customization Tool - Microsoft 365 Apps admin center but then dumbed it down as basic as I could. Below is the redacted .xml file code (removed leading < characters so the code would actually post):
Configuration ID="de..."><br> <br> Add OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="PerpetualVL2024"><br> <br> Product ID="ProPlus2024Volume" PIDKEY="#####-#####-#####-#####-#####" SourcePath="C:\Installs"><br> <br> Language ID="en-us" /><br> <br> /Product<br> <br> /Add<br> <br> Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" /><br> <br> Display Level="Full" AcceptEULA="TRUE" /><br> <br> Configuration>

There are three logs generated at C:\Users\WDAGUtilityAccount\AppData\Local\Temp

There are three errors I found in the log files (All Click-To-Run Non Task Errors):

InspectorToolDeployment::ToolScratchWrapper {"MachineId": "3db31f827c0d204982cfeb1aea3d2d28", "SessionID": "3aaf4982-f545-408d-852e-293be96018cc", "GeoID": 39070, "Ver": "16.0.17932.20328", "C2RClientVer": "16.0.17932.20328", "ErrorCode": 0, "ErrorType": "", "AppVErrorSource": "", "ErrorMessage": "", "ErrorDetails": "", "ContextData": "{"message":"Run Inspector tool process","Process":"InspectorOfficeGadget.exe","Command":"Filesystem path scrubbed by C2R","Message":"No provisioned package found for: microsoft.office.desktop, continue removing installed packages. Having posted the above, this appears to contradict the premise that LTSC 2024 and earlier version are different! Licensing_Microsoft_Office_Software

Hi Brandon, I do not think you can directly upgrade Office LTSC 2021 to Office LTSC 2024  Office LTSC 2021 and Office LTSC 2024 are different products, and an upgrade is not supported. You would need to uninstall Office LTSC 2021 and then install Office LTSC 2024 separately, using the ODT for each version.

How do I upgrade to Office LTSC 2024?

Uninstall versions of Office before deploying Office LTSC 2024. Most Office products installed via Windows Installer (MSI), such as Office 2016, can be removed during the installation of Office LTSC 2024. For more information, see Remove existing versions of Office before installing Office LTSC 2024.

We have access to Office versions as part of our Microsoft A3 licensing at our university. We are on 2021 with a script that is working, but when we change 2021 to 2024 in the XML, it fails. We need to deploy 2024 one-off because we had one person purchase a license for Visio 2024, so we need to upgrade them to Office 2024. I can try to deploy via PDQ, but I figured that if I can't get the manual install to work, PDQ isn't going to get it to.

Hi Brendon, LTSC versions are not really meant to be 'installed' they are designed to be deployed so that there is no need for an internet connection. Did you purchase you LTSC online or from Microsoft directly? If you purchased directly from Microsoft there are links on that page for assistance.
