Hi, I am attempting to populate a document using content controls. All is working except one control, that being the "drop down content control", it will not repeat throughout the document. Does the drop down content control not populate in a template?

Thank you

    The download link is https://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_resources/Content%20Control%20Insert%20Utility%20Dialog.zip

If you aren't familiar with installing template add-ins, here are the steps:

After the zip file downloads, right-click it, choose Properties, and check the box for Unblock. Then unzip the file to get the .dotm file, and store that in the folder C:\Users[your name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\Startup.

Use the Content Control Insert Utility link in the Conclusion section of Greg's website

I like and use Greg's utility.

However, you can do this without the utility.

Content controls that repeat their contents in other content controls rely on those controls being "mapped" -- attached to the same bit of XML in the document's file. Although many of the items in the Insert > Quick Parts > Document Property menu are automatically mapped, none of them are dropdown content controls.

To create mapped dropdowns, download and install Greg Maxey's add-in from

    https://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/Content_Control_Custom_Insert_Dialog.html

As described in the section "Combo Box & Dropdown List Content Controls" in that page, mapped dropdown controls are one of the types that add-in can insert. (The download link is near the bottom of the page, under the Conclusion heading.)

Thank you for the reply. I have used this add in before and it was very good, for some reason with updates to my microsoft subscription it has disappeared. On accessing the link you provided there seems to be many dialogues saying "download here" "download and install" - I'm just a little cautious with all the pop up windows appearing requesting me to download and install. Are you able to provide me with a direct download link? Sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you.

    Jennifer
