How to create timeline PowerPoint?

  1. Open PowerPoint and go to the slide where you want the timeline.
  2. Click on the "Insert" tab in the ribbon.
  3. Choose a layout like:
    • Basic Timeline
    • Chevron Process
    • Horizontal Bullet List
  4. Click OK to insert the SmartArt.

    Dear sanju,

    Thank you for raising your concern to Microsoft Support Community.  

    I’d like to offer a more complete guide to ensure everything works smoothly: 

    1. Open PowerPoint and go to the slide where you want to insert the timeline.
    2. Click on the Inserttab in the ribbon.
    3. Select SmartArt from the Illustrations group.
    4. In the Choose a SmartArt Graphic dialog box:
    • Go to the Processcategory.
    • Choose a layout that suits your timeline, such as: 
      • Basic Timeline
      • Chevron Process
      • Circle Accent Timeline
      • Horizontal Bullet List
    • Click OKto insert the SmartArt.
    1. Enter your timeline events:
    • You can type directly into the shapes.
    • Or use the Text Pane (click the small arrow on the left of the SmartArt) to enter and organize your timeline items.
    1. Customize the design:
    • Use the SmartArt Design tab to change colors, add shapes, or adjust the layout.
    • Use the Formattab to resize or reposition the SmartArt.
