old Hotmail account login only accepted as Child Account by Microsoft now

I have an old Hotmail email account. when I want to login, Microsoft wants to recognize it as a Child's Account to my Microsoft Account. But that is fault! Microsoft has now attached this old Hotmail Account to my Microsoft Family Account, but is is NOT a family account but a separate old account with no connection to my Microsoft account whatsoever.

How can I change the settings back to the old Hotmail Account and undo the Child's Account label? So I can login as in the old days.

Thank you in advance. Even Help Desk Chat from Microsoft could not give me a solution. So this is a challenge.

John

Thank you for your reply and advice. I did not have time yet to trie your proposed solution. I will try it this in the coming days.

The problem still exists. In order to get to my old Hotmail account, I needed to make it a Child Account connected with my other Hotmail Account (which is part of my Microsoft Account). So the problem is that I never ever before named my old Hotmail Account a Child Account so Microsoft changed it without my consent. The account was made in 2013 and perhaps Microsoft sees it as a 12 year old, which would be a bug in the software then.

I have also another old Hotmail email Account, which cannot get into, unless I change it to a Child Account also. I have not yet done so, so this other old Hotmail Account of mine is not accessible at this moment.

Very strange that Microsoft keeps asking and wanting that my old Hotmail Accounts needs to be appointed as Child Accounts to (my) Family Account of Microsoft. I only have old separate Hotmail Accounts which I use till this day.

I will let you know if your solution will work out in the next days.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and making community posts.

I understands the importance of resolving this issue, Don’t worry I will be helping you with this following steps.

    1. Remove the Account from Microsoft Family

    2. Check Account Age Settings

    • Sign in to the affected Hotmail account at https://account.microsoft.com.
    • Go to Your InfoEdit Date of Birth.
    • If the birthdate is incorrect and makes it appear as a child account, update it to reflect the correct age.
      • If Microsoft doesn’t allow you to edit it freely, you may need to submit proof of age.

    3. Update Parental Control Restrictions

    • Sign in to the Hotmail account and go to Privacy Settings or Security Settings.
    • Look for any restrictions related to parental controls and remove them.

    4. Try Signing In Using an Alias

    • If you previously linked your Hotmail account to a newer Microsoft account, try signing in using the full Hotmail address.
    • Go to Outlook.com and log in using your Hotmail credentials directly.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.
