Publisher being discontinued?

I'm trying to understand what is truly happening with Publisher after October 2026. I have a 365 subscription. Does this decision mean that Publisher will cease to function on my machine after that date or is it just not being supported/updated after that date?

This is not an adequate solution in my mind..Publisher is frequently used because it bridges the gap between apps and provides robust choices for file output formats that other Microsoft products lack. The two step process of saving publisher files to PDF and then importing to word totally sucks. Word is not capable of handling the graphics. If I had a way of porting publisher files to PowerPoint that would be great. Im disappointed. You raised my monthly subscription fee and then took a valuable tool away from me at the same time. Why? Please Explain how publisher is not a lesser used application? I find it more useful and easy to use than anything else.

P.S. By the way, as stated in the reference article, Publisher with a perpetual license (not by subscription, but from the "boxed" Office) will work after the specified date, but without support from MS.

This is a forum where ordinary users try to help each other. And I am also a very ordinary user and I am not a representative of Microsoft.

To be even more specific, Publisher will not work on your PC after October 2026.

    Hello.

As stated in the Microsoft help:

"Can I still install Publisher after October 2026? If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, Microsoft Publisher will no longer be available for installation or download after October 2026. However, if you have the Perpetual version of Publisher, although support will end, you will still be able to install and use the app beyond this date.

What happens to my existing Publisher files after the end of support? If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you will no longer be able to open or edit your Publisher files using Microsoft Publisher. It is recommended to convert your existing files to PDF or Word format before this date. If you have the Perpetual version of Publisher, you will still be able to access and edit your files."

That is, if you have Publisher installed as part of a 365 subscription, it will simply cease to perform its functions (you will not be able to create, open, or save files).
