Text and Theme Colors Changing When Opening Documents on iPad and iPhone

Hello,

I’m facing an issue when opening my documents on Microsoft Word and PowerPoint using my iPad and iPhone. The text colors in Word documents appear black instead of their original colors, and any highlighted text appears blue, no matter what color I originally used. Similarly, in PowerPoint, the theme colors and shapes are also changing.

I have tried several steps already:

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the apps multiple times
  • Signed out and signed back into my Microsoft account

Unfortunately, the problem still persists.

When I open the same documents on my PC, everything appears perfectly — with the correct fonts, colors, highlights, and themes — so I believe the documents themselves are not corrupted.

This issue only happens on my iOS devices (iPad and iPhone).

Could someone please help me understand why this is happening and how to fix it?

Thank you very much!

I'm using an iPad mini 4th gen with iOS 15.8.3. I'm not experiencing this problem. Both Print Layout and Mobile View look fine with the proper colors.

It sounds like you did all the things one would do. You might try rebooting the iPad. If that works, then do the same for the iPhone. You might also try using a different font on your PC and storing the document and retrying again on your iPad.

Sometimes an app falls behind when the iOS is updated, and may become partly incompatible, until the app is updated. Check the Apple store and see if there are any reviews from users who are experiencing the same issue.

I am not using an iPad or iPhone.

Take a look at My opinions on various Word offerings in a pdf.

These are different programs with limited capabilities compared to the desktop application.

Your local settings on your tablet and phone may change how things look, but even using PCs/Macs documents can appear different when opened on different devices.

What happens if you use the default Office themes?

I do not know that themes are implemented on mobile devices.
