License Conflict with Multiple Office 2021 Editions – Outlook Keeps Disappearing

Hi,

I need help regarding a license conflict issue.

My Microsoft account currently has the following Office products associated with it:

  • 6x Office Home & Business 2021
  • 2x Office Home & Student 2021

One of the users is facing constant issues:

  • Outlook keeps disappearing or uninstalling itself
  • Office apps seem to conflict between the two license types
  • We suspect it's due to multiple Office licenses being bound to the same Microsoft account

We would like to:

  1. Unlink or remove specific licenses (especially the Home & Student ones) from this Microsoft account
  2. Resolve this licensing conflict permanently
  3. Ensure Outlook stays installed and functional for the user

Is there any way to unbind Office 2021 licenses or assign them to different Microsoft accounts? Any help or guidance is appreciated!

Thank you.

Hi Samaria, Microsoft Home & Student 2021 (or any Home and Student) do not have Outlook, pointed out by Palcouk).

Can you confirm that there is only one Office installed on one computer?

Can you sign in at: https://account.microsoft.com/services  and take a post a screenshot of the installs of the 6 Offices?

Hi Ron, thanks for getting back.

We’ve already tried repairing and uninstalling, but the license conflict still persists. It’s very frustrating—every morning after turning on the PC, Outlook disappears. We have to uninstall the Home and Student 2021 license and reinstall it just to get it working again.

Only 2 PCs are affected—these originally came with the Home and Student licenses. We have a total of 2 Home & Student 2021 and 6 Home and Business 2021 licenses. The other 4 PCs only have H&B and they’re working fine, so it seems like the conflict is specifically tied to the H&S installs.

Even after uninstalling the Home and Student license, it keeps prompting and interfering with Outlook. It's becoming quite disruptive to daily work.

Appreciate any further guidance or escalation you can offer.

Hi Samaia, first of all you can redeem up to 25 one-time purchases (perpetual) versions of Office with on Microsoft Account: Get help with product key errors on Office.com/setup - Microsoft Support

See also: Manage multiple one-time-purchase Office installs that use the same Microsoft account - Microsoft Support

Only Microsoft Support can 'unbind' or change the Microsoft Account (email address) associated with Office.

You could try repairing the Office/s having conflicts Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support

Are these all on different computers?

If by all that you mean you are using/installing multiple Office licence types under that same win user admin account on a PC then you will have problems.

Only oH&B 2021 includes MS Outlook
