The word count in my word document won't show on the bottom bar

My word count has dissapeared from my lower toolbar. When I have right clicked to bring up the menu of options it says that the word count is enabled. I have turned it off and on again but it still doesn't come up.

I have tried restating my laptop by that hasn't done anything

I can still access the word count from the review section of toolbar but this won't tell me how long a highlighted section is.

I don't know what else to try

Try the following: Make sure that just one Word window is open, and then right-click the status bar to bring up the context menu. Click to select Word Count and Character Count. Exit Word. Restart the program.
