Hi there, Kristin! This is Marc. Thank you for reaching out to the community.

Thanks for providing those details. Based on what you've described, here are a few approaches we can try.

    1. Wait a few hours, ideally 24 hours, before trying again. The block usually resets automatically.

    When retrying, go to https://setup.microsoft.com

Use private/incognito mode in your browser or try a different browser entirely.

If possible, redeem the key from a different device or network (e.g., using mobile data or a different Wi-Fi).

    1. Ensure you have the full product key (25 characters) and a valid purchase receipt from Walmart (digital or printed). Double-check that the product packaging hasn’t been tampered with or previously opened.
    2. If the error persists for more than 24 hours, you may need to contact Walmart Customer Service with your receipt. Explain that the key is being rejected by Microsoft due to an activation limit or server lockout. Also, ask for a replacement or refund, especially if it's a boxed or digital product sold by Walmart or its official partner.

Let me know how it goes.

    Best regards,

Hi again, Kristin! thank you for the detailed follow-up.

Since the store is refusing the return and your key is still not redeeming even after 24 hours, your best course of action now is to speak directly with a Microsoft Support agent who can escalate the issue.

    Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

Select "Microsoft 365" as the product.

    Choose “Billing and Subscriptions.”

Select “Chat with a support agent in your web browser.”

If a virtual agent appears, type "Talk to a person" then "Product key issue."

Ask the support agent to escalate the case or issue a replacement key if they can verify the original is inactive or invalid.

Let me know how it goes.

    Best,

I went to Walmart because we only have one running vehicle at this time. My husband has to go to work and needed to drive me there. I spoke with the store manager and she said the Microsoft product card are non-returnable. There is nothing they can do and that Microsoft should be sending me a new card. She was a little rude and would do nothing. I also had printed out your reply to show them. She said it is Microsoft's problem and that they should know it is non-returnable. I am coming up to the 24 hour deadline. What do I need to do if I do not receive a call back? I do not have another $150 to spend on buying this program twice. I am also unable to work because I need these programs to open up the files on my new computer.

    Hello Kristin,

Thank you for the detailed update. I sincerely apologize for the frustration you're experiencing.

Wait for Microsoft's callback. This is your best shot at a resolution without needing to go back to the store. Microsoft support agents on the phone often have more advanced tools and permissions than chat agents to investigate product key issues.

If Microsoft Support is unable to resolve it after your call, or if the call doesn't happen within the promised timeframe, your next step is to return to Walmart.

I hope this gets sorted out for you.

    Best,

The link you gave me did not have a place to enter the key code. I was on chat for over two hours with two different people yesterday. They were not able to help so I am still waiting for a call. They said to give them 24 hours and they only have 1 1/2 hours left to call. I also tried the key code this morning after 24 hours had passed with no luck on the site on the back of the card office.com/setup. I also tried a different browser too. The silver over the key code had not been damaged. Are you saying I need to take this back to WalMart and get my money back? Where do I go to get Office Home and Student for 1 PC/Mac from you? I do not want to be on a subscription and do not need 365?
