How to sign in to account for 1-month free trial of Visio?

I just now signed up for a 1-month free trial of Visio. I was assigned a user name with @xxx.onmicrosoft.com suffix. I got an email confirmation of the free trial to my email account at gmail.com. But I am not able to sign in to my account (gmail.com) because a work account is required.

I remembered that MS might have given me a work account with @xxx.onmicrosoft.com suffix but i didnt save it, thinking that it will be sent via email in confirmation email, but it didn't. How can I access to my 1-month free trial of Visio or how can I retreive the given temporary "work account" by MS

Thanks

MS Support couldn´t help with account retrieval or account termination (to avoid charge after trial ends). They ask to call local support via this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2

Seriously, do any of you know how to handle this :(

    Hi XuanOanh,

Good day and thank you for reaching out with your question regarding access to your 1-month free trial of Microsoft Visio. I understand the confusion around signing in, especially when a temporary work account with @xxx.onmicrosoft.com suffix is involved but not clearly communicated.

Here is a detailed explanation and guidance to help you access your trial:

    1. Why You Need a Work or School Account to Sign In

Microsoft Visio trials require a work or school account (also called an organizational account) to activate and use the trial. This account is different from your personal Gmail or Microsoft account. When you sign up, Microsoft will automatically assign or create a temporary work account for you with the suffix @xxx.onmicrosoft.com.

    2. Retrieving Your Temporary Work Account

    • Check your emails carefully: Although the confirmation email was sent to your Gmail account, it usually does not include the temporary work account’s username or password explicitly.
    • Try to recall or find the username: If you remember the @xxx.onmicrosoft.com username assigned, try signing in at https://portal.office.com using that username.
    • Reset your password: If you do not remember the password, use the “Forgot password” link on the sign-in page to reset it. You will need access to the recovery email or phone number associated with that account.
    • If you cannot retrieve the account:
    • If this trial was set up via your organization or Microsoft tenant, you may need to contact your IT administrator to recover or reset your account credentials.
    • If you signed up independently and cannot recover the account, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for assistance.

    3. How to Access Your Visio Trial After Signing In

    4. Additional Important Notes

    • The trial license is linked to the work account, not your Gmail account.
    • If you signed up for the trial as part of an existing Microsoft 365 tenant (your organization), licenses must be assigned to your account by an admin.
      See: Assign licenses to users
    • If you have multiple Microsoft accounts, make sure to sign out of personal accounts before signing in with your work account, or use an incognito/private browser window.

    5. Helpful Official Resources

I truly hope you understand that the initial steps I suggested may not have completely resolved the issue, as there might still be underlying causes, we haven't uncovered yet. Please know that I’m here with you every step of the way, ready to work together and do everything I can to help troubleshoot and find the best solution.

If you continue to have trouble signing in or retrieving your work account, please let me know. I’m happy to assist you further or guide you on contacting Microsoft Support for account recovery.

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Visio. I hope you enjoy your trial experience.
