CTRL+P followed by the enter key used to just print to the last printer I had selected. Now when I use this shortcut instead of the Print box being highlighted it is now the select printer that is highlighted. I have disabled all add ins and still no fix. I went to various forums and multiple people have experienced the same problem is there an update that would have caused this issue? How do I Fix this issue?

I this an intended feature? I understand that there are other methods to make this work, however that kind of defeats the purpose of the shortcut. Hitting tab multiple times is not faster than simply clicking print. Is this a bug or is there a setting that can be changed? This hasn't been a recent or isolated occurrence , it has been going on for several weeks. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand how confusing it is when using Ctrl+P followed by Enter shortcut no longer immediately prints to the last selected printer in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Here is a recommended workaround in this case:

    • Press Ctrl+P → Shift+Tab twice → Enter
This sequence moves the focus back to the "Print" button
    • Press Ctrl+P → Tab multiple times → Enter
Depending on your Office version and layout, you might need to press Tab a few times instead.

As a Forum Moderator, I recommend that you submit feedback related to this issue via the "Feedback" option in Word or Excel (under Help > Feedback). Your valuable feedback will be carefully reviewed by the product team and used for future updates.

I'm looking forward to your response and thank you for your patience.

    Best regards,

    Hi Chris,

Thank you for your prompt response. I understand how confusing it is while the feature is not working as it used to be.

Based on current evidence, this appears to be an intentional UI change introduced in a recent Microsoft 365 update. While Microsoft has not officially labeled it a “feature,” the consistency across apps and lack of rollback options suggest it is not a bug.

I've managed to find another workaround which you use the Quick Access Toolbar in Word. This requires a bit of setup but could lessen the times of click.

Please see this article Add commands to the Quick Access Toolbar - Microsoft Support on how to customize the toolbar.

I'm looking forward to your response and thank you for your patience.

    Best regards,
