Word is making blue colored boxes around the clipart in my docs Plus widening the entire page randomly

Please no BIG long fixes.

I'm on an updated iMac Sequoia 15.4.1. I have/had? Microsofe 365.

I need to update my word which I truly hate to do because it seems to only cause more twirling and weird problems.

What's causing this?

What I DID do was disable copilot (I think that’s what it’s called) and voila I think most of the widening has gone away. But I will have to wait a few more days to make sure.

As far as the weird bluish boxes around my clipart, I’m not sure yet if the copilot being off will help or not. I’ll need to be on my computer more again.

I really don’t know how I got copilot and don’t remember seeing it before.

I’ve tried to do the latest update but it’s always there when I’m right in the middle of something and when I try to get it back to update, I can’t find out where it is.

As soon as I’m able I plan to do the update though.

The blue indicates the objects are currently selected, or in this case that table cells are selected.

Clicking somewhere outside the table should change the current selection.

I’ve tried that but it doesn’t work for me.

It’s weird though because it will only be on the page I did something on and not the previous or page after.

    But thanks.

    Hi Terri,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and making community posts.

This really sounds frustrating, Don’t worry I will be helping you with this following steps.

    1. Disable Object Borders – Sometimes, Word automatically applies borders to images. Try selecting the clipart, going to Format > Picture Border, and setting it to "No Outline."
    2. Check Full-Screen Behavior – If Word is randomly widening, macOS might be triggering full-screen mode when you move the document. Try adjusting your drag motion or pressing Control + Command + F to exit full-screen.
    3. Update Word – I know you’re hesitant, but updating Word might resolve these issues. Microsoft often releases patches for macOS compatibility

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.
