Is there a way to have an MS form be completed by staff and then automatically go to their manager for approval of the same form?

I am trying to set up a form for staff to complete however a manager will need to approve this form.

Rather than me manually emailing the manager, is there a way to either put a manager approval section in the form to send to them or link a new form that the manager can complete.

Just looking at the most efficient way of achieving this, thanks.

    Hello.

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.

While Microsoft Forms doesn't natively support multi-step approvals or conditional routing within the form itself, I'd suggest you use Power Automate and set up an automated approval workflow. This tool works seamlessly with Forms and Outlook, allowing you to send the submitted form responses directly to a manager for approval.

If you'd like to move forward with Power Automate, these would be the steps:

    1. Create your Form using Microsoft Forms.
    2. Go to Power Automate and create a new flow using the "When a new response is submitted" trigger for Forms.
    3. Use the "Get response details" action to fetch the form input.
    4. Add the "Start and wait for an approval" action, which allows you to route the submission to the manager's email automatically.
    5. Based on the manager's response (Approve/Reject), you can send a confirmation or follow-up email to the staff member.

Let me know if this works for you or if you want to see more options.

    Best Regards,

    Hello again.

Thanks for getting back to me.

The Form ID is the long alphanumeric string found at the end of your Microsoft Form URL.

You're right saying that is after the ID= part, so be sure to avoid copying any characters that come after an ampersand (&) or any additional parameters.

I'll be here if you need further guidance.

    Best Regards,

Thanks. Any Idea which part of the URL is the form ID? I have tried pasted the URL after the 'id=' but it doesn't work.
