Everytime I try to copy and paste anything into word it gives me this error. I close out and try again same thing. It won't let you save the document either, and if you try to copy from the word document that doesn't work either

Outlook has the same problem 50% of the time.

Running windows 11 pro, latest up to date office 365

    Hello Ken,

Thank you for your post to the community.

That sounds incredibly inconveniencing especially when it’s affecting both Word and Outlook. Let’s walk through a few steps that have helped others resolve this clipboard-related crash in Office apps:

    1. Disable Problematic Add-ins
    • Open Word or Outlook normally.
    • Go to File > Options > Add-ins.
    • At the bottom, set the dropdown to COM Add-ins and click Go.
    • Uncheck all add-ins, restart the app, and test copy-paste.
    • Re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.
    1. Repair Microsoft Office
    • Right-click Start > Apps & Features.
    • Find Microsoft 365, click Modify.
    • Choose Online Repair (not Quick Repair) for a deeper fix.
    1. Check for Clipboard Conflicts: Some third-party apps (like clipboard managers or screen capture tools) can interfere with Office. Try disabling or uninstalling any clipboard-related utilities temporarily.
    2. Create a New Windows User Profile: Corrupt user profiles can cause persistent Office issues. Creating a new profile can help isolate whether the problem is system-wide or user-specific.
    3. System Resource Check: If you’re seeing errors like “Not enough memory resources,” check Task Manager for high memory usage or background apps hogging resources.

If none of these steps resolve it, a full uninstall and reinstall of Office might be necessary.

Kindly let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,

    James | Microsoft Community Support.
