Subject: Urgent Issue: Unable to Sign In - Two Microsoft Accounts Locked

Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am writing because I am unable to access two of my Microsoft accounts.

To provide some background, I initially created four Microsoft accounts using my real legal name and information. I set these up to separate my work, personal, and family communications, and they have always worked perfectly without any issues.

Recently, I decided to launch a new brand and required two additional Microsoft accounts for this purpose: one Outlook account for setting up associated social media profiles (acting as a private/backend email) and another for public contact. This brings my total number of accounts to six.

All my accounts were functioning well. The two new brand-related accounts worked correctly for the first week after creation. However, they have now been locked.

When I try to sign in to either of these two new accounts, I receive the following message:

Your account has been locked

We've detected some activity that violates our Microsoft Services Agreement and have locked your account.

How to appeal this and unlock your account

Choose Next and we'll send a verification code to your phone. After you enter the code, you can get back into your account.

When I click "Next" to proceed with phone verification, I am prompted:

Enter your phone number, and we'll send you a security code

We'll send a verification code in a text message. This helps us eliminate spam - we won't give out your number. The code will expire in about 10 minutes.

However, after entering my phone number (and I have tried multiple valid numbers), I consistently receive this message:

Try another verification method

That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method.

Crucially, no alternative verification method is offered, leaving me unable to proceed with unlocking the accounts.

I have already attempted various troubleshooting steps, including:

Using different phone numbers.

Clearing browser cache and history.

Trying different web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave).

Attempting sign-in from both my PC and my phone.

Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data connections.

None of these actions have resolved the issue, and I remain locked out of the two accounts associated with my new brand.

This is a critical problem because I have already set up social media profiles, registered a domain name, and arranged web hosting, all of which are linked to or rely on these two specific Microsoft accounts. Starting over from scratch is not a feasible option for my new brand. I urgently need to regain access.

I understand that having six accounts might appear suspicious to an automated system. However, I assure you that all my accounts are used for legitimate personal and business separation purposes. I have never used them for spam or any prohibited activities.

I was able to create these accounts without any initial warnings regarding quantity limits. It is very concerning that they were allowed to be set up and integrated into my workflow, only to be locked shortly afterward without a viable way for me to verify ownership.

Could you please investigate why these two specific accounts were locked and provide guidance on how I can successfully verify my identity and regain access?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,

Farid

This has happened to me and it's catastophic because I have had the same Outlook account for over 20 years and now it's been locked for a week. Whenever I try to reset my password it says to enter my gmail email, which I did. Then I get a code put it in but unbenownst to me, I have 2 step authentication account but when my cell number pops up and I put my last 4 digits in it says verification method isn't working right now. So here I have two working methods for 2-step authentication yet it still says I've already requested too many codes today try tomorrow.

This is a complete nightmare. To make evern worse I tried to do the account recovery but it immediately sent an email to my gmail saying it won't work because I have 2-step authentication. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello.

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.

If you're seeing the message "The verification method isn't available or working", it typically means that the method you're trying to use (like a phone number or authenticator app) is no longer linked to your account due to security policies, or it's not valid for that specific recovery action.

Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Use an alternate method: If you added more than one security option (like a backup email or second phone number), you might be able to choose another method during the recovery process.
    2. Update your security info: If you still have access to your account, go to your Microsoft Account Security page and update your recovery options (http://account.live.com/proofs/manage).
    3. If you're locked out entirely, please contact our Data Protection Team, through the Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support.

    Have a nice day.
