This is not an operation you do in Word. Instead, save the file to your hard disk. In the Finder, open a web browser to Google Docs and upload your saved file.

It's not possible to add Google Docs as a save location in Word, and Google Docs format is not supported in Word.

In macOS, using New>Upload File opens that most recent folder that you had open on the Mac.

The second post from the O.P. suggests they are trying to upload a file to Google Docs from within Word, which is not possible. They'll need to open a browser to upload the file to Google Drive, then change it to Google Docs format there.
