A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Hello Jennifer,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
I understand you're unable to retrieve your notes after reinstalling the OneNote app, and you're seeing the message: "This page may have been moved, deleted, or you may have insufficient permission to access it." Let’s work through this together. To better assist you, could you please confirm the following:
>> Are you signed in with the same Microsoft account you used before reinstalling OneNote?
>> Were your notes saved to OneDrive or stored locally on your device?
In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try out to resolve the issue:
- Check Online: Visit https://www.onenote.com and sign in with your Microsoft account. If your notes were synced to the cloud, they should appear here.
- Sync All Notebooks: In the OneNote app: Go to File > Info > View Sync Status. Click Sync All to force a manual sync. Look for any errors or notebooks marked as “misplaced”
- Check the Notebook Recycle Bin: If the notes were accidentally deleted: Go to the History tab. Click Notebook Recycle Bin. Right-click any deleted page or section and choose Move or Copy to restore it.
- Clear Cacher and Re-sign in: Sometimes, clearing the app cache helps. Sign out of OneNote. Close the app completely. Reopen and sign back in. Let it sync fully before navigating to your notes
