Is Office Home & Business 2011 able to be transferred?

Hi everybody.

First time question, would much appreciate your advice :)

Years ago I bought a CD Rom copy of Microsoft Office for Mac, Home and Business 2011. This was a brand new, fully licensed purchase.

These days, I use Microsoft 365, and I no longer own the old Mac I used with the CD Rom software back in 2011 onwards.

Am I able to give this copy to a family member to install on their Mac, or will the license forever be tied to me? (I have checked in my Microsoft account, but it is not listed there). Just want to establish is it still usable, or should I just dispose of it now.

Thanks for your help :)

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Office 2011 pre-dates digital licencing, it does not get associated to a Microsoft account, if you have the disk and product key, then you can give that to your family member and they will be able to use that version of Office, the only problem they may have is the version of Office is very old and may not be compatible with their version of MacOS.
