The writing becomes at the top of the line if I reduce the font size.

I am working on a Word file in Arabic, but I am facing a problem in some paragraph, which is that the writing becomes at the top of the line if I reduce the font size, as in the picture.

Note that I check that there is no any deference's in font and paragraph settings between the paragraphs.

For more clarification:

  • What is red : with font size=16.
  • Which is green: with font size=16, and superscript.
  • Which is yellow: with font size=8, without superscript.

Hi Omar, in addition to suggestion by Lizzie, you could try removing all formatting and reapplying it. Highlight all text>In Font group on ribbon>Click on this will remove the formatting to allow you to reapply the formatting you want.

    Hello omar,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Community.

I understand you're encountering formatting inconsistencies in your Word document. Based on the screenshot you provided along with your description, it appears that the upper-left section with size-8 yellow text aligns to the top, while the yellow text below aligns to the bottom. I note you've already verified there are no differences in font or paragraph settings.

May I suggest applying the format painter to potentially resolve any hidden formatting discrepancies (select the bottom-aligned text, click format painter, then apply to the problematic section) to enforce uniform formatting. Additionally, I recommend testing this scenario in a new Word document by manually entering content with identical font and paragraph settings to determine if the issue persists. It would also be prudent to experiment with different font types.

Please don't hesitate to share any developments regarding this matter.

    Best regards
