    Hello Julian,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Visio Plan 1 is designed for business accounts, which might explain why you're being prompted to create a new account. If you're using a Microsoft 365 personal or family account, Visio Plan 1 requires a business tenant to access its features. This is because the subscription is tailored for work or school accounts, and personal accounts aren't compatible with the plan.

    Dear Adaeze

Thank you for your clarification, most appreciated. However, I'm not sure where that leaves me as a private individual to pay for the plan monthly, perhaps I'm excluded from such an arrangement.

I'm writing a book where there are a large number of illustrations of a technological nature, and Visio is most suitable. I already have 2016, but wanted to upgrade. Microsoft is making it hard.

    Best Wishes

    Julian
