Can't enter numbers / jumping cells

I have a question about Excel.

I am an inexperienced User.

I suspect i have inadvertently hit a command and don't know how to fix the problem.

In an Excel spreadsheet i am trying to enter a number into a cell.

I cant enter any numerical value into the cell

It keeps jumping back to the corresponding row / cell in Column A.

And then i find myself at what looks like the Cell at the very bottom of Col A.

I can type letters into the cell.

Would appreciate some help. Thank you

Hi Robbsie, I'm Kelvin, an Independent Adviser. I know how confusing and frustrating it is when you are trying to type and Excel behave unexpectedly. Allow me to assist.

Check if Scroll Lock is enabled by mistake by pressing the Scroll Lock key on the keyboard to disable it → or use Fn + C if your keyboard doesn’t have one, then restart → Excel and try again

Also, check if the keyboard is working properly → type in another app like Notepad or Word.

Please let me know what is not clear in the instructions. I will be glad to assist more further.
