How to make word settings the way I want it to be every time I open word instead of opening my word doc and everything is changed!

I recently bought subscription word after always having "lifetime" programs. I immeadiately regret it.

Everytime I seem to open Word to use it, something seems to have changed in my settings so the page looks different.

Today I open it and the text is in green and the page has some green background or surround that I never requested.

Please someone HELP!

Please give simple step by step instructions so I can set up my word document so that every time I open WORD, the font is the same, the text color is the same, the margins are the same UNLESS I make changes in a specfic document.

I just want to use basic word functions!

Also is there a way to turn off these automatic changes that seem to occur with out me making any changes to the settting or giving permission for changes to be made?

I have no idea how they happen but I'm ready to ditch MICROSOFT after years of using it. It has become so complex and difficult to navigate unless you are a very experienced computer wiz or studied how to use the software indepthly and keep current with every little change microsoft makes in the software which appears to happen at such a radidity these days, I don't know how anyone keeps current with the changes.

Thankyou

This looks like the Windows transparency effects, which cause Office apps to pick up colours from your desktop background.

On your desktop, right-click and go to "Personalise". Then go to "Colours". You should see a toggle for "Transparency effects". If it's on, change it to off, and see if that solves your issue.

Do you see this green background color in other Office apps? Other apps in Windows? Is it possible the color of your monitor needs to be adjusted? (I kept getting a popup on my laptop yesterday during a presentation saying something about adjusting display color, so this is top of mind.)

This could just be a monitor effect. An actual screen shot rather than a photograph might be more helpful.

Hi Anne, do you mean that you have purchased Microsoft 365 Personal subscription from Microsoft Store?

Try Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support please note the Online Repair will reinstall your Office. So try Quick repair first as it is much quicker.

Please take a screen shot of your Word window and upload it here so that we can see what you see.
