Other than Office for the web, there is no free version. For a free desktop program, install LibreOffice, which has good compatibility with Office files.

To get the free version of Microsoft Office, you can sign up for Office 365 Education, which is free for students and teachers with a valid school email address. You can visit the Office 365 Education website and follow the instructions to sign up and download the software.
