Hi Matt,
How do I do this part of your instructions "open the OneDrive settings on your laptop" ?
Hello,
Your query matters to us; together, we’ll find the best answers for you.
As per your description, OneDrive automatically backs up photos from certain folders on your new laptop—even if you primarily use Apple iCloud—so pictures stored or imported on your device may be getting synced. Because of this, the "Your memories from this day" emails are triggered even though you didn’t intentionally sign up for photo uploads to OneDrive.
To stop the unintentional sync, open the OneDrive settings on your laptop and review the paired folders. Look for any options associated with photos or camera roll uploads. If you find that OneDrive is set to back up photos from your device, disable or remove those folders. This ensures that your photos remain solely in your Apple iCloud and are not inadvertently added to OneDrive.
In addition, to stop receiving the “Your memories from this day” emails, you need to disable that notification in your OneDrive settings. Sign in to OneDrive via a web browser using an incognito or private session (to avoid any caching issues), then navigate to the notification settings at https://onedrive.live.com/?v=NotificationOptions. Here, uncheck the option for “On this day memories are available” and save your changes. This official Microsoft support page explains the process in detail: How to turn off OneDrive Memories. Following these steps should stop the daily emails from OneDrive.
If the issue persists even after these changes, it might help to clear your browser cache or try disabling the feature using a different browser. Additionally, if you have any OneDrive mobile apps installed, make sure the notification settings there mirror your web settings.
I hope this explanation proves effective in solving your problem.
