Whenever I try to enable HDR on a display connected to Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics, the HDR toggle turns off immediately — it doesn't stay enabled. This issue does not occur when the same display is connected to my NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super GPU, where HDR works perfectly.

This seems to be a bug or driver-related issue specifically affecting the Intel UHD 630. Please investigate and fix this problem — it's affecting the usability of HDR for users relying on Intel integrated graphics.

System Info:

Intel UHD 630 (integrated GPU)

NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super (dedicated GPU)

Display connected via DisplayPort 1.4

Windows version: Windows 11 24h2

HDR10-capable monitor

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Display and graphics

I have to confirm that moving to Windows 11 25H2 the issue is fixed.

    Hi Krishna Kumar Goel,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing a problem where HDR instantly turns off when enabled on a display connected to your Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics. I understand that this might be frustrating for you, especially when NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super works fine, and will do everything to help.

Solution 1 - Uninstall recent updates

Other users have previously reported that enabling HDR with Intel integrated graphics (including UHD 630) causes the toggle to revert immediately, and HDR fails to activate. I found some similarities in your situation, and it might relate to Windows 11 24H2, specifically tied to the KB5060829 update. You can refer to this discussion for more details and fixes: KB5060829 causes issues with Windows 11 Pro 24H2 when switching HDR mode on - Microsoft Q&A

    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates
    • Navigate to KB5060829 > Uninstall > Restart your PC and try enabling HDR again.

Solution 2 - Update Intel graphics drivers

Intel’s UHD 630 has limited HDR support compared to NVIDIA/AMD GPUs, and driver bugs or incorrect display settings can prevent HDR from staying enabled.

Solution 3 - Force HDR via Intel Command Center

    • Open Intel Graphics Command Center from Microsoft Store.
    • Go to Display > Color > Enable HDR.

If HDR is missing for Intel or the issue persists, consider setting your NVIDIA GPU as the primary display output for HDR, given its typically better compatibility. Additionally, as this appears to be an Intel-specific issue, we recommend reporting it directly to Intel Support for driver bug escalation.

I hope the information above helps. Please do not hesitate to let me know if if the issue persists, and it could be very helpful for further analysis if you can provide additional information, such as when the problem first appeared (e.g., after a system update or new software installation). Thank you for your time.

    Warm Regards,
