Outlook iOS and Google calendar sync issues

Outlook for ios will not sync with events created on google calendar in a browser. Hoevever, the events created directly in outlook for ios will immediately sync with the google calendar in the browser. Email syncs seamlessly.
How can I correct this so sync is two way? I can´t miss appointments simply because they were created or accepted on Google calendar on my PC.

I just want to chime in and say I'm having the same Sync issue with one of my clients.

I think it's a global issue that started this week with an update.

I believe you can subscribe to the Google Calendar in Outlook on the web. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/import-or-subscribe-to-a-calendar-in-outlook-com-or-outlook-on-the-web-cff1429c-5af6-41ec-a5b4-74f2c278e98c .

The idea is that the subscribed calendar will then display in Outlook for Mac and possibly also in Outlook for iOS.

    Hello MSS,

Thanks for using Microsoft product and posting in the Microsoft Q&A.

I realize that you've encountered a problem with the one-way sync issue between Outlook for iOS and Google Calendar, I understand how you feel. This indicates a specific issue with Google Calendar sending updates to Outlook iOS.

Here are the most common reasons for this specific problem and how to fix them:

    1. Re-add Your Google Account in Outlook app

    • Open the Outlook app on your iOS device.
    • Tap your account icon (usually top-left, might be a photo or initials).
    • Tap the gear icon (Settings) in the bottom left of the account pane.
    • Under "Mail Accounts," tap the Google account that's having sync issues.
    • Tap "Delete Account." Confirm you want to delete it.
    • Close the Outlook app completely: Swipe up from the bottom of your screen (or double-tap the Home button on older iPhones) to see open apps, then swipe the Outlook app upwards to dismiss it.
    • Restart your iPhone.
    • Reopen the Outlook app.
    • Tap your account icon (top-left).
    • Tap "Add Mail Account."
    • Enter your Google email address and follow the prompts to sign back into your Google account. Ensure you grant all necessary permissions when prompted.

    2. Verify Google Account Permissions & Outlook Access

    • On your computer, open a web browser and go to your Google Account security page: https://myaccount.google.com/security.
    • Log in to the Google account that's linked to Outlook iOS.
    • Scroll down to "Third-party apps with account access."
    • Find "Microsoft Outlook" in the list.
    • Ensure it has access, specifically for Calendar. If you see an option to "Review access" or "Revoke access," you can try revoking it and then re-adding the account in Outlook for iOS (as in Solution 1) to force a fresh permission grant.
    • Check iOS App Permissions (for Calendar):
      • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Outlook.
      • Ensure "Calendars" is enabled (toggled on) in the permissions list.

     3. Ensure "Calendars" is Enabled for the Account in Outlook iOS

Within the Outlook app itself, you can choose which components (mail, calendar, contacts) sync for each account.

    • Open the Outlook app on your iOS device > account icon (top-left)> gear icon (Settings).
    • Tap the Google account that's having issues.
    • Ensure the "Calendars" toggle is enabled (green). If it's off, turn it on. If it's on, try toggling it off, waiting a few seconds, and then toggling it back on

    4. Update your Outlook app to the latest version

Please try these steps and let me know how it goes. If you have any other questions or need help with something else in the meantime, I'm here for you.

    Best regards
