Additional Microsoft Defender tools and services that provide security across various platforms and environments
Given your Microsoft account's email was changed by a hacker, your only reliable path to recovery is the Microsoft Account Recovery Form.
To recover your account:
Go to https://account.live.com/acsr.
Enter the original email address you used for the account, even if it now seems changed or unrecognized.
Provide a different, working email for Microsoft to contact you.
Crucially, fill the form with as much accurate detail as possible:
Any old passwords you used.
Subject lines of recent emails you sent from the hacked account (ask friends/family if needed).
Names of contacts you recently emailed.
Details of any Microsoft 365 purchases (dates, payment info).
Approximate dates of last OneDrive uploads or file types.
If you used an Xbox console with the account, its hardware ID.
Try submitting the form from a device and location you've previously used to sign in.
Important: Microsoft's recovery is automated for security; direct support usually cannot bypass this form. Be prepared for multiple attempts if needed, providing more detail each time.
Immediate Safety Steps:
Notify your bank/credit card company if any payment methods were linked to your Microsoft account.
Change passwords on ALL other online accounts where you might have reused passwords.
Enable two-factor authentication on all other accounts for future security.
Scan your devices for malware.
