    Hi Harkishan,

    Thank you for your response.

Are you using the OneDrive "Restore your OneDrive" feature from the web interface? This restores your entire OneDrive to a previous point in time (e.g., due to ransomware or mass deletion). If so:

    • Go to OneDrive online
    • Click the gear icon > Options > Restore your OneDrive
    • Choose the date and confirm the restore

If the restore date shown afterward is incorrect, it may indicate the restore didn’t fully complete or was overridden by a more recent action.

Check Recycle Bin and Restore History

    • In OneDrive online, check the Recycle Bin — sometimes files are moved there instead of being restored. Also check the Second stage Recycle Bin (click “Recycle Bin” > scroll down > “Second stage recycle bin”). Look for any restore logs or activity history in OneDrive to confirm what was restored and when.

    Check File Paths-

Sometimes restored files are placed in unexpected locations or renamed. Try searching for the filenames or checking:

    • Recently modified files
    • Folders with similar names
    • Shared folders or synced folders

    Version History Limitations

If you tried restoring previous versions of files or folders:

    • This only works if the file still exists — it won’t recover deleted files.
    • If the file was deleted and not in the Recycle Bin, version history won’t help.

If none of the above works:

    1. Try contacting Microsoft Support via OneDrive Help & Learning here: Contact - Microsoft Support

    Provide them with:

    • The date you attempted to restore
    • The names or types of missing files
    • Screenshots of the restore summary or activity log (if available)

If you need help with any of these steps or, feel free to reply to this post. We're happy to assist further.

     Warm regards,

    Edward Schlobohm

    Hi Harkishan,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I’m sorry to hear that the OneDrive Restore option didn’t help recover your files. I’d be glad to assist you further.

To better understand the issue, could you please confirm: Are you using a personal, work, or school OneDrive account?

Did you receive any error messages or codes during the restore attempt?

    Please note the following:

For personal Microsoft accounts, items in the Recycle Bin are automatically deleted after 30 days. Files removed from your Personal Vault will only appear in the Recycle Bin if the vault is unlocked before checking. You can use the “Show Personal Vault items” option in the Recycle Bin to view and restore them.

For work or school accounts, deleted items are typically retained for 93 days, unless your administrator has set a different retention policy.

If the standard Restore feature didn’t work, here are some additional recovery options you can try:

    1. Second-Stage Recycle Bin (Work/School Accounts Only)
    • Go to OneDrive online.
    • Click Recycle Bin on the left.
    • Scroll to the bottom and select “Second-stage recycle bin”.
    • Look for your files and click Restore.
    1. Restore OneDrive to a Previous Date (Microsoft 365 Personal/Business)

    Go to OneDrive online.

Click the gear icon > Options > Restore your OneDrive.

Choose a date before the deletion occurred and follow the prompts.

    1. Check Your Local PC’s Recycle Bin

If the files were synced locally and deleted from File Explorer:

    Open the Windows Recycle Bin.

Locate the files, right-click, and select Restore.

    1. Use File History or Backup (if enabled)

If you had File History or Windows Backup turned on:

Navigate to the folder where the file was stored.

    Right-click > Properties > Previous Versions tab.

Select a version and click Restore.

For more detailed guidance, you can refer to these official Microsoft articles:
