Experiencing significant lag and stuttering in the browser on a second monitor while gaming on the main monitor. When playing games in windowed mode, Google Chrome (and other browsers) have issues with buffering and stuttering during Twitch and YouTube streams. The problem occurs only when focused on the game; Chrome works fine when tabbed into.

Steps taken:

  • Disabled hardware acceleration.
  • Adjusted Chrome flags.
  • Updated graphics drivers and Windows.

The issue persists despite these efforts, making gaming unplayable. Any solutions or insights would be appreciated.

Hi ,

If it is a laptop or desktop, if possible, could you provide the laptop model or your desktop configuration?

Thanks

This is an issue with Chromium browsers, I have the same issues when gaming with my primary monitor on a fairly decent pc while watching twitch or YouTube on the second screen. There are many Suggested Solutions, I have tried them all, even reinstalling Windows 11, but the only one is switching browser to Firefox which lacks the many perks that chromium offers.

    Solution Description
Disable Efficiency Mode Go to Settings > System and performance and turn off “Improve your PC gaming experience with efficiency mode.”
Disable Efficiency Mode Go to Settings > System and performance and turn off “Improve your PC gaming experience with efficiency mode.”
Disable Experimental QUIC Protocol Visit edge://flags, search for “QUIC,” and disable it. This resolved stuttering for many users.
Enable Media Foundation Flags In edge://flags, enable both “Media Foundation” options to improve video playback.
Clear Cache and Disable Extensions Go to Settings > Privacy, Search, and Services, clear cached images/files, and disable unnecessary extensions.
Re-enable Hardware Acceleration If previously disabled, try turning it back on to improve high-res video performance.
Switch to Firefox for Dual Monitor Gaming Chromium browsers often struggle with dual monitor setups during gaming. Firefox handles it better.
