Hi Nguyễn, this is Kimberly, an independent advisor. I'm glad to assist you today.
This isn't necessarily a bug with Discord alone but an interoperability issue between Windows, Chromium-based PiP, and Electron. Unless Electron or Windows changes how Z-order is handled with always-on-top contexts, this may persist.
Here are some practical steps you can try:
- Toggle Discord Window Type
Open Discord settings > Appearance > Enable and then disable Hardware Acceleration. This restarts Discord and may reset window stacking behavior.
- Toggle PiP Mode
Disable Chrome’s PiP temporarily before using Shake to Minimize.
Or re-enter and exit PiP after you use Shake.
- Manually Reset Window Z-Order
Minimize and restore Discord manually (Alt+Space > Minimize, then restore).
Or press Win + D twice to toggle desktop and bring windows back.
- Use Discord in Browser
Running Discord in a browser tab (instead of the desktop app) sidesteps Electron quirks entirely.
- Disable Aero Shake
If you don't need Shake to Minimize:
Windows 10/11:
Settings → System → Multitasking → Turn off "Title bar window shake"
Should you have more questions, please let me know.
Best regards,
Kimberly
