So the newest update 7-25-2025 keeps failing it installs to 100% but the says it fails. All my drivers are updated and I tried to look at troubleshoot but it said it can’t locate problem and to contact someone for help. I’m not sure what else to do. Also when I turn off my pc or try to restart it,it says that uodate is downloading and not to turn off pc but it stays stuck on that screen for hours if I let it.

Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been offline.

Thanks for the clarification.

KB5062660 is a "Preview" update, essentially a beta version of the update scheduled for release next week. Preview updates are optional and may include experimental fixes or features. They can sometimes be unstable or fail to install properly.

Importantly, you're not required to install preview updates, and skipping them won't expose your system to any security risks.

If KB5062660 continues to fail during installation, you can prevent Windows from attempting to install it by doing the following:

  1. Press "Windows + I" and select "Windows Update";
  2. Toggle off "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available";
  3. Restart your PC.

This will stop Windows from downloading optional updates like previews, and your system will only receive standard monthly updates going forward.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

    • Are you getting an error code? If yes, which one?
    • Let me know the KB number of the update displaying the error.

    If you don't get an error code, see the update history.

    • Press "Windows + I" and select "Windows Update > Update history".

    If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    Also. What is the version and "OS Build" of your Windows 11?

    • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

    If you prefer, share a screenshot.

    Be sure to censor your email address if it appears. The Microsoft Q&A is public.

    I await your reply.
