Slow Boot Time - Windows 11

I bought a new MSI PRO DP180 desktop computer about 2 weeks ago running Windows 11 Home Version 24H2, OS build 26100.4770.

For the first few days the boot time was about 1 minute, then it suddenly increased to over 7 minutes. I disabled all the Startup app and added app back one at a time, for a few days it was OK, then suddenly it's now about 5 mins to boot.

On my previous computer running Windows 10 I had the same startup apps and they started without problems.

I now only have 9 apps at startup and under "Startup impact" they all shows "Not measured"

I have been through a number of replies on this site regarding "Slow boot", none of them make any difference.

Something I changed may have caused problems, as my computer keeps restarting because it's run into problems. Can I download a Windows 11 ISO file to reinstall the operating system to get it back into a stable condition without having to install all the programs and copy data?

I have disabled all startup app in Task Manager, apart from Avast One antivirus which cannot be disabled and put them into a .bat file, this improves boot time to less than a minute and then a few seconds to run the startup .bat file. This is a workaround, is there a better way of improving boot time in Windows 11.

Is there any software that can monitor what is running at boot time?

Do you have reboots every 10 minutes still?

I went into Troubleshoot mode by pressing Shift and restarting my computer, I "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and could see the error message "DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (0xC4) what failed: aswArPot.sys"

Searching on the Internet this relates to Avast, I therefore used the Avast tool to uninstall and reinstalled it. Unfortunately this didn't solve the problem, I have uninstalled Avast and rely on Windows Security

I'm not sure if this will solve the slow boot, I'll experiment and let you know.

As for rebooting, please check system journal (Event Viewer) for possible errors at these moments, especially Kernel-Power errors. DistributedCOM errors should be ignored.

Or save system journal to evtx file and share it to OneDrive for analysis.

    Thank you for your reply.

I have downloaded the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit and ran “xbootmgr.exe -trace boot”, the output boot_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl is too large to attach to an email and when I try to upload it to Google Drive the computer restarts with an error message. I'm not sure what to do with it, perhaps you could explain in simple terms.

My computer keeps restarting about every 10 minutes due to an error, it reboots before I can read the message. Is the error message stored somewhere?

Rectifying the constant reboots is a bigger problem, can I download a Windows 11 ISO file to reinstall the operating system to get it back into a stable condition without having to install all the programs and copy data.

    Regards,

    Alan Clarke
