I suggest you submit that as a feedback for the New WMP enhanced features.

From the Start menu, search for “Feedback Hub”

Or press Windows key + F on your keyboard.

Sign in with your Microsoft account (or Azure AD account) to unlock full features like search, upvotes, and status tracking.

    Once opened:

Use the search bar to look for existing feedback similar to yours.

    Upvote relevant feedback if found

Otherwise, click “Give new feedback” to submit a new report or suggestion.

You can choose whether it's a Problem or Suggestion, provide detailed description, and attach screenshots or record your steps to illustrate the issue.

After submitting, you can click Share to copy a link to your feedback (often an aka.ms link)—this is useful if you want others to upvote it too.

Hello! RICKY , Kimberly here, and I’m eager to jump in and help you fix this.

In the new Windows Media Player on Windows 11 (the one shown in your screenshot, not the old WMP 12 or “Movies & TV”), there is no built-in setting to adjust the vertical position or gap of subtitles.

It doesn’t expose controls for fine-tuning subtitle placement, it simply positions subtitles near the bottom with a fixed gap.

Here’s what you can do instead:

    1. Edit the Subtitle File (Workaround)

If your subtitles are in .srt format, you can add empty lines before each text block to push them upward, or reduce empty lines to bring them closer to the bottom.

This is tedious for full movies but works if you just need small adjustments.

You can edit .srt files in any text editor (Notepad, Notepad++).

    2. Use an External Player

If you need precise control over vertical positioning and spacing:

VLC Media Player → Tools → Preferences → Subtitles / OSD → Force subtitle position (pixels from the bottom).

    MPC-HC / MPC-BE → Options → Subtitles → Default Style → adjust Margins for vertical offset.

These players also support per-subtitle font, color, outline, and gap adjustments.

    3. Switch to the Legacy WMP 12 + DirectVobSub (VSFilter)

    Press Windows + R, type:

    wmplayer

This opens the old Windows Media Player.

Install DirectVobSub (VSFilter), which allows you to control exact subtitle positioning, margins, and styles for any video.

Should you have more questions, please let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
