Unlawful debits on my bank card

I have been u lawfully debited by Microsoft on my bank account using a card that is not linked to my subscription service which means this constitutes fraudulant activity. This jeeds to be investigated and returned immediately. My bank advised due to the fact that I have a Microsoft account, this needs to be disputed with the merchant

The same thing just happened to me but the thief spent R4599.98 at Microsoft ISO Milnerton. I bank with Discovery Bank and thankfully they blocked all the other transactions the swine attempted to make. They tried another R4599.98 at Microsoft Xbox then another R4599.98 at Microsoft ISO, and another R4599.98 at Microsoft*Xbox (notice the subtle name changes). Thereafter, they tried R 829.98 at Microsoft ISO, then R 829.98 at Dlocal Microsoft Xbox, then 2 more times at MicrosoftXbox.

Good day

The same also happened to me on the 26th of August 2025. Two consecutive transactions happened on my FNB account at 01:26. each amounting R4599.98. Also to Microsoft ISO. I do not have a MS account. I cancelled my card as well, ant the bank opened an investigation. Still to see if any of the STOLEN money will be recovered.

Same has happened to me, on 28 August 2025 around 6pm - managed to get R4599.98 x 4 off my account using the reference Microsoft ISO/Dublin/Milnerton - they did try a further 9 times but luckily the Standard Bank Fraud department alerted me and I stopped my card. Not sure if I will be reimbursed this money or not. I did not get a QR code to scan, a OTP or a weird phone call. Was not on my banking app at the time - no idea if this was a cloned card or how they did this.

Same happened to me also the same amount of R4599.98...on the 31 August. On my account they got 7 x times that amount over R32000 from my account. What they did was 'deposit' the amount and then withdraw the amount...so maybe that is how it tricks the system.
I also had to stop my card and rapport to the Police. As I was busy at the Police another gentleman came in, same amount, same time frame and also on a Standard Bank account. Usually the Standard Bank app comes up with a PIN (OTP) in order to approve, but none of that happened. So somewhere there is a flaw in Standard Bank's card processing setups to only ask for OTP not all the time. Still not sure how on earth the got the details as my banking stuff is not on any MS setup.

I can go you one better. Received sms from Nedbank Fraud division picking up the transaction and freezing the card. Went to branch cancelled card and 5 transactions went off after the card was cancelled. I was advised by Microsoft Co-pilot to include this paragraph.

Should this matter not be resolved promptly, I will escalate it to the Payments Association of South Africa (PASA) and the Ombudsman for Banking Services.

Microsoft confirmed these transactions were in fact not made by me. I contacted my banker and advised them of this. They then went ahead and disputed the transactions with the vendor and it came back as fraudulant transactions. The investigation is now pending and will only receive feedback by 15 September 2025. Absolutely Rediculous!

Just got of phone with Nedbank fraud line - 8 to 9 weeks. I am however looking for more complaints like this so I can go directly to the ombudsman since this is a pervasive problem

Similar happened to me 2 months in a row. I do have a 365 subscription but got multiple other withdrawals which l flagged and reported. I had to cancel my card and get a new one and update my details with a digital card. On Sunday l saw another fraudulent transaction and blocked my digital FNB card. This morning Microsoft Milnerton hit me TWICE on my brand new physical credit card that l have not even used for any purchases with them. Had to report again and cancel my card AGAIN.

@Marilise Swart Did you get to the bottom of this? I have had the same thing happen, I blocked my bank card. I am sure these were fraudulent transactions
