    Hi Jill, thanks for your question. Windows 11 does not have a built-in feature to color code files or folders. What Microsoft supports is changing folder icons by right clicking the folder, selecting Properties, then Customize, and choosing a new icon.

    This changes the look of the folder but does not allow direct color coding. At this time, there is no Microsoft program that adds file or folder color coding in Windows 11.

    Previously, only OneDrive for work or school provided the folder color option in Explorer, but that option is in all versions of OneDrive now. Here's a tutorial showing the feature:

    Note that you can only change folder colors for folders that are managed by OneDrive.
