I am able to see the formatting and section break. I cannot "delete" though. I just starts deleting text before or after the break

    There are several techniques:

    • Place the insertion point at the start of the Section Break then press fn+delete, or
    • Place the insertion point at the start of the Section Break then press Shift+Right Arrow then press delete, or
    • Place the Insertion Point after the Section Break then press Shift+Left Arrow then press delete

Try selecting the section break and also include a couple of text characters. Can you then Cut (Command+X) the text and the section break and get rid of the break that way?

Sometimes, working with section breaks will be easier in Draft view, where you can see them more easily. Also, make sure that you display nonprinting characters by clicking the ¶ icon on the Home tab.
