Notes gone

I have experienced the same problem as others on my Android phone and tablet. I use Notes daily and have done so for some time using the M365 App for Android. However, right out of the blue,(September 2025) when I went to use the Notes app, I found that the link had been removed leaving me with no access to my notes on my Android devices whatsoever. How do I get access to my notes again please? There are no deleted items in any recycle bin etc., that I can see.

Hi! Keith. Thanks for the details. I'm here to help.

This issue has been affecting a lot of Android users recently, especially since Microsoft quietly retired the “Notes” section in the Microsoft 365 (M365) app around September 2025. You’re not alone, but the good news is your notes are very likely not lost, just no longer accessible from the old “Notes” button.

Check Outlook “Notes” (If they were from Outlook)

If your notes were the simple yellow-style notes inside Outlook:

Go to: https://outlook.office.com/owa on a browser.

    • Click the “App launcher” (☰ grid) → Outlook → Notes (sometimes under “More apps”).

Alternatively, in desktop Outlook, go to Mail → Folder Pane → Notes.

If you see them here, they’re safe, you can copy or export them, or switch to OneNote for future use.

See if this helps. If you need further assistance, just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly

    Hi Paul,

If you have a current MS account / subscription of what I used to know as Office 365, then you may have the option of using the 'New Outlook' app for Windows which is what I use. Why on earth MS chose to use the same name as the app that came bundled with the original MS Office is probably something we shall never know. Suffice to say that if you have access to the New Outlook in Windows or as mentioned by Kimberly in a previous post, you could log into your Outlook / Hotmail mailbox in a web browser. You should be able to access your notes from there. The link to your particular notes should be in the navigation pane / folder list where your inbox, sent items etc., are listed. It's not ideal and MS really should give much more thought in future before they go deleting links to area's that others use. I hope this is of help and that you regain access to your notes

    Regards
    Keith
