Urgent: Unable to Join Teams Meeting – Request for IT Assistance

Dear IT Support Team,

I am experiencing difficulties joining a Teams meeting for an important interview.

Initially, I attempted to join using the Teams desktop application, but the meeting appeared to be end-to-end encrypted. I then asked the recruiter to resend the meeting link. However, when attempting to join, I repeatedly receive the error: “Your message can’t be displayed. Check your network connection and try again later.” My internet connection is stable.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I have already attempted:

Closed the Teams desktop application and tried joining through a web browser.

Entered the Meeting ID and Passcode manually in Teams.

Used different browsers and private/incognito windows.

Disabled all browser extensions.

Confirmed I am not using a VPN.

Cleared the Teams client cache and restarted the application.

Restarted my device.

Verified firewall and security software are not blocking Teams.

Unlinked my school account and attempted to join as a guest with a different account.

Despite these efforts, I am still unable to connect, and the same error message continues to appear.

Could you kindly advise on any additional steps or possible solutions? Your urgent assistance would be greatly appreciated, as this is time-sensitive.

    Hello @Hsin Lin

Thank you for your detailed information!

I’ve also been through many interviews, and I understand how not being able to access Teams can seriously affect the impression you make on the recruiter.

I hope you can take a screenshot to include with your interview so they can understand the situation happening on your side and you don’t miss out on this job opportunity.

Firstly, I need to make it clear to you that our role is only that of a forum moderator, not the IT engineering team. As a forum moderator, I can only assist by clarifying your concerns, locating relevant information, guiding you through possible steps, and referring you to the appropriate support teams when necessary. This is because I do not have the permissions to make changes to Microsoft products or access customer backend information to verify specific details or provide a direct solution to support you.

However, I deeply understand how important this situation is for you, so I will do my best to clarify this issue and provide potential troubleshooting steps within my ability to support you as much as I can.

To confirm we are on the same page, might I confirm:

    1. Are you using a personal account (e.g., hotmail.com, outlook.com), an educational account (e.g., @edu), or a business account (e.g., @yourcompany.com)?_
    2. Are you using Microsoft Teams app to access this meeting?
    3. Is this issue just happen with this interview meeting only or it also happen with your Teams meetings before and not fixed?
    4. Might I confirm if you can sign in your Teams app but the issue is only happen when joining the Teams meeting?
    5. Have you tried to reinstall your Teams app?

(It will be better if you can send me your screenshots with personal information is removed so I can address this issue better.)

I’ve found a temporary solution you can try while we work on identifying the root cause of the issue.

You can join the meeting without signing in by joining as a guest.

Please follow the steps below to join your interview:

    1. Click this link:  Join a Microsoft Teams Meeting by ID | Microsoft Teams
    2. Enter your "Meeting ID" and "Meeting Passcode".
    3. If a pop-up appears (like in my screenshot), click “Cancel” and then choose “Continue on this browser”.
    4. Type your full name so the employer can recognize you and admit you into the meeting.
    5. Set up your microphone (on/off), camera (on/off), and choose a professional background to make a good impression.

While waiting, you may consider trying the following simple steps, I have tried to make it in detail to support you:

    Reinstall, Repair or Reset Teams

    • Go to "Windows Settings" -> "Apps" ->" Installed apps"-> "Microsoft Teams"
    • Click on "Advanced options" -> Scroll down and choose "Repair" (you can tried to repeat this step several times)
    • If that doesn't work, try to "Reset" (After that, you need to sign in again)

I’d really appreciate it if you could take a moment to review the information and share your thoughts.

Because this is a complicated issue. Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Wishing you the best of luck in your interview, just do your best!
