When you turn off Secure Boot in your BIOS, Windows 11 may see it as a major hardware change. If BitLocker is enabled, this triggers a security check and asks for your recovery or product key. This is normal and part of Microsoft’s protection system to ensure your data and license remain secure.
To fix this, check first if BitLocker is on by going to Control Panel, then System and Security, and selecting BitLocker Drive Encryption. If it is on, turn it off before changing Secure Boot settings. Once you disable BitLocker and then turn off Secure Boot, Windows should start without asking for a key.
