How to download online event registration report before the event?

I'm arranging an Online event with Teams. The participants register to the event through Teams registration site created by Teams when setting up the event. I need the registrant information including the extra questions before the event, how do I get those? It used to be possible to donwload all the information to Excel in the Reports section of the event and that's also where all the instructions in MS helpcenter takes me, but the whole view is completely empty and clicking the Download button does nothing. I cannot get the registration report out before the event.

This is happening with all events I'm arranging at the moment and it's not just me and my organization, I've asked around and other people and organizations are having the same problem.

Has MS deleted this possibility or maybe made it to be only Premium feature? I really need help with this, can anyone help?

Hi @Mirka Salminen & @Andy Wilson

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Q&A.

I’ve looked into the issue and also tested it myself, including with a Teams Premium license, and unfortunately, I ran into the same problem: the registration report simply doesn’t download before the event starts. The Reports tab is empty, and the Download button doesn’t respond.

So based on what I’ve seen, this isn’t a Premium-only feature, and having Teams Premium doesn’t resolve it either.

I’ve also searched through Microsoft’s documentation and recent updates, but so far there’s no official confirmation from Microsoft that this feature has been removed or changed intentionally. That said, I’ve received multiple reports from other users and organizations experiencing the same issue, so it’s likely not isolated to your tenant.

And I completely agree with you, being able to access registration data before the event is not just convenient, it’s essential. Without it, organizers lose the ability to:

  • Review who’s attending.
  • Prepare based on custom questions.
  • Coordinate logistics, breakout sessions, or engagement strategies.

It’s a small feature, but its absence has a big impact on how events are planned and delivered. If this change was intentional, it really deserves a second look.

To help Microsoft recognize and prioritize this issue, I’d recommend submitting feedback directly:

In Teams:

Go to More option > Give feedback > Report a problem

Or post it publicly on the Microsoft Feedback Portal so others can vote it up.

Here’s a sample post you can use or tweak as needed:

Title: Unable to download Teams registration report before event  Description:  Organizers used to be able to download the full registration report (including custom questions) before the event via the Reports tab. This functionality now appears broken, the view is empty, and the Download button does nothing. This affects all events across multiple organizations. Please restore this feature or clarify if it has been deprecated. It’s critical for event planning and attendee engagement.

Once you’ve posted it, feel free to come back and share the link here, I’ll be happy to vote it up, and I’m sure others will too. The more visibility it gets, the more likely it is to be addressed.

And if you found this answer helpful, you can click “Accept Answer”, it helps others with the same issue find it more easily and also signals to Microsoft that this is something worth looking into.

I hope this information helps point you in the right direction. If you run into any issues while trying the steps, or if something still doesn’t feel quite right, please don’t hesitate to reach out again. I’ll do my best to support you however I can.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

Warm regards,

It seems that some people have had this problem for months already. Or at least I saw similar questions in the MS Feedback Portal.

I did add a new feedback, thank you so much for helping with the text. Here's a link, if you'd like to upvote it:
