I think that the grant is not actually applied to the billing scope you’re using which means that the credits have been renewed in August but they were attached to a different billing account or subscription.
But if your credit exhausted or expired, the subscription will be automatically converted to pay-as-you-go and started charging the card since nonprofit Azure grants renew at USD $2000 per year and when the grant ends or runs out, it flips to PAYG.

Don't forget that spending limits don’t exist on PAYG and some offer types, so they won’t block charges once you’re out of credit.
