Windows crashing mostly when running games requiring resources

I have a recent and fairly powerful PC configuration, but when I run recent and demanding games, I get blue screens or system crashes. This time, I have a minidump file that was generated. I've already run numerous tests to try to find the cause of the problem, without success. Could you help me understand?

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

The minidump does not mention any driver, only a generic system file.

    I suggest doing the following:

    • Go to the MSI website using the link below, download the latest Chipset driver, and install it.

    https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z790-P-WIFI-DDR4/support#driver

    Driver name: Intel Chipset Driver

    Version: 10.1.19899.8597

(Extract the ZIP file, double-click the file "SetupChipset" to run it, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.)

    • I noticed that the motherboard BIOS is outdated. I suggest you update it by following MSI's instructions.
    • Go to the motherboard BIOS and check if you have configured any XMP/DOCP/EXPO (RAM overclock) profile. Disable it, and leave it as default.

(If you need help checking this, let me know.)

Then, see if the system will work stably when running games.

If the crash occurs again after doing this, please share the minidump it created.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

    Hi,
Thank you for these answers, disabling XMP profile fixed my problem.

After additionnal tests, it seems that my RAM is defective, I will replace it eventually.
