How can I transfer my Office Home & Business 2024 license from my personal account to my work account?

I mistakenly purchased an Office Home & Business 2024 license using my personal Microsoft account, as I did not have a work account at the time. I have since created a work account and would like to transfer or associate this license with that account. I have not installed any software yet, and I only have the product key received in the order confirmation email. Please advise on how to proceed with linking the license to my new work account.

You can't avoid associating Office Home & Business with a Microsoft account. That will become clear as you go to https://setup.office.com/ where you will immediately be asked to sign in, before you redeem the product key.

Since Office Home & Business is licensed for business and home use, you may be able to choose a business/organization account.

If you have a product key then it isn't really tied to your MS account at all. You can simply install Office and then use the product key to license the software. The license is tied to the product key.

If you had instead purchased a subscription then it would have been tied to your personal account and you wouldn't have been able to transfer it to another account. But that doesn't change much since you could just use your personal account to register Office and then use it for work.
